That day I went to to Jusco and saw these awesome bottles from BROS with the collaboration of Young Malaysia Independent Artist! I saw few artist that I recognised from Pipit Wonderful Market: Pocoleizi, Minifanfan and Wonder Kittens!.

I bought two of it. Hehe.

1) The Water Cycle: A 550 ml bottle water by Minifanfan.

Water is everywhere. Water is always on the move through the water cycle. So I try to illustrate the incredible journey with my imagination.

Wedoo Photobook Junior

In December 2011, I purchased another Groupon deal on compact photobook by Wedoo, Canon Malaysia link (I think I seriously crazy on photobook madness despite I do not have so much pictures!). The type of photobook is photobook junior.

Printed on acid-free glossy paper

Compiled in a simple layout
Inner cover with space for messages

For the software, you have to sign in to their wedoo junior instead of downloading the application. They have their own design application but it do not apply to the junior photobook. The steps for photobook junior is pretty easy. You upload pictures that you want, then arrange on which page you want. There are only four ways of layout you can choose. You can't add any shapes or decoration you want. Fair for me, since it's just a palm size, you want to keep everything simple and nice. After arranging the photos, you can type some words and choose some theme colours (only one colour). Below are some screen capture of the wedoo junior application.

Only 4 options, the last option (far right) takes two pages.

Personally, I do not like online application, because my Internet connection is not always strong. Sometimes it takes too much time to load a saved photobook. I encountered the same problems when uploading some pictures with big size (more than 2 mb) and it always failed >.<. You need to constantly saved your work in case your Internet connection suddenly shut down or whatever might happen. At the end when everything is done, just click Order! button. This is the only thing I like about the application. I do not have to wait freaking long to upload my photobook.

Each photobook comes with special case and index print of your photobook. Refer to below pic.

I ordered two junior photobook from them and encountered some problems as some pictures resolution are too low to be printed out. I'm glad that they notify me the problem, but I send the order of two books at short time interval, my order number differ is just one! (xxxxxxx21 and xxxxxxx22). Below is part of the email they send to me.

Thank you for your recent purchase. However after our pre-flight checking, we found that there are some resolution issue on the following photo.

My handmade items

Seriously I do not remember which book is which order number. I mentioned to them, they have no respond for the first time, and I have to email them again after a week. They straightly called me to fix the problem by agreeing to send me the cover of the photobook. But then, I wait and wait and received nothing >.<. That time I have exam and the Groupon expiry date is on May. I'm lazy to email them again. So by the time my exam is finished, I take my time to upload the corrective images on both photobook (e.g. page 9 image on both photobook because I do not remember which is which). I reupload it and a week later they send me email to self collect it (my choice, because I refused to pay RM10 delivery per book for a palm size photobook which I regret as the company is too far from my house, but RM20 delivery, emm, maybe not so regret :p).

The next thing I do not like is the cover design (see the question mark), seriously when I design it, I thought this will be at the back instead of being part of the paper wrap of the book. Take off the paper wrap, the cover of the photobook is white (front and back). Why don't they print it as well as waste money, paper and electricity to print paper wrap for the photobook???

Other than that, I'm satisfied with the colours, paper, and the size :D

I will still use their services, I like their paper, colour and mini size (good to print all my handmade items pictures) maybe I just encountered some bad luck with their staff since it's near festive seasons and end of the year, busy time for them...hopefully they do not blacklist me for emailing them so many times >.<

Learning Air Clay

I have bought boxes of air clay to learn some figure making techniques. I did not buy those clay that need to be dry by oven as I don't own one. The set come with some basic tutorial and some tools. My first time of doing this turning to be ...................pretty bad =.=||||||||||||||||
My friend commented that they learned this when in primary school. My primary school art classes were pretty boring, I don't remember much what time of art work I have done during that time. No, I did not slack off, the teacher did not require us for compulsory pass up, so none of us did the artwork :p

My failed air clay products, wahahaha, only the first top left is not from tutorial, I thought I should try something based on my idea, it turned out to be weird, only then I look at tutorial and learned, haih....

I will keep on learning till all the clay finished then only decide I'm good in this or not...

Photobook by Pixajoy

I bought Groupon deals of Personalised Hard Cover 40-paged medium (8.5” x 11”) Photo Book from Pixajoy. Like Photobook Malaysia, they also provide free photobook designer application and this include free delivery for people like me who live within Peninsular Malaysia (A delivery fee of RM10 for East Malaysia and RM30 for Singapore applies). Their standard papers are:

Art Paper 150gsm with Gloss Lamination
Has a beautiful glossy sheen and a protective coating, ensuring lost-lasting colour. Smooth to the touch and reflects a moderate amount of light.

Art Paper 150gsm with Matte Lamination
Has an elegant artistic feel and a protective coating, ensuring lost-lasting colour. Almost 'powder-ish' to the touch and does not reflect much light.

I have tried both papers and here is my little review about it:

As you can see from gloss lamination, the paper reflect the light and I do not like the paper texture. I not fond of glossy paper but the colour is clear and vivid has make me very satisfy compared to the matte lamination. Paper with matte lamination texture is soft and nice but the colour is so bright from what I have been expected. I looked scarily pale in the pictures.

Above picture is from matte lamination. One thing that I found out if the pictures are dark enough in your eyes, it will print out nicely on matte lamination. I guess one should ask Pixajoy's advice on this. I will ask, but that will be next time (after my exam is finish....)

I mentioned other countries handmade crafts are cheaper in my previous post. Well, I been fortunate enough to travel to some countries and able to see and buy their handmade crafts. It makes my trip feel so worth after walking non-stop traveling :p Maybe I will upload randomly what craft items I have bought and share with people that are interested :D

Sorry for the dark photo, I took this picture in 2009 in an anime event in The Venetian Resort, Macau. My brothers and I were so happy that we came across this event (we didn't even know about it) and we don't have to pay a single cent to enter the event. It's quite small and not a lot people knew about it. Not much people came despite that day they have cosplay competition. There are handmade craft artists from Macau, Hong Kong and China (Zhuhai and Guangzhou, I think) participated in the event.

I like these two reindeer so much and it only cost me RM50 (that means RM25 each)...i forget the price in MOP/RMB/HKD, but as I remember the price after convert to Malaysia Ringgit is RM25 each. The details are amazing, beautiful and neat handwork and you can put in washing machine to wash it and still turn out to be ok. Love this so much! I gave the red one to my friend.

It is a necklace, emm...I do not know how to pair it :D and it look weird according to my friend, but I just like it and the materials are nice...nice comfy and little fluffy fabrics. I think this one is more expensive around RM30-60.

Pipit Wonderful Market 7

Been ages since I went here...

On 29th October (Saturday), I went to Pipit Wonderful Market 7 at Annexe Gallery, Central Market. It's been a long time since I took LRT to Masjid Jamek station. I used to drive nowadays but if I'm heading to China Town alone or only with my youngest brothers, LRT is my main option XD.

I bought a few items, will share it on the next post. I reached there around 1pm (opening time is 12pm) and I started to snap pictures while searching for the items I want ---> one of it from EEching's Handmade, but all are sold out!

Pretty satisfied as I miss out previous Pipit Wonderful Markets except for the prices of craft items are getting expensive...other countries' crafts are not that expensive, but such event in Malaysia is so rare compared to other countries. I will still support it and bring more money go next time to support Malaysia's handmade items :D

Mumbling again: Photobook Malaysia

On last Aug 26th, I purchased a voucher of a 40-page photo album from Photobook Malaysia through Groupon Malaysia. As I'm a Maybank user, I'm entitled of additional 10% discount and plus the offer discount is 75%, the overall price after discount is RM82.80 (before: RM368). Consumer can pick two type of album: Imagewrap Hardcover Large Landscape album (15” x 11") or a Large Portrait album (12” x 14”). You can read it more here.

My parents always ask me to develop travel pictures which I think not worth and quite a lot work to do (select photos, send to shop, arrange it etc.) and especially when digital camera allows people to snap till they are happy, choosing photos is damn tiring. As this is my first time design a photobook, it took me some time (around 1-2 weeks). I choose Imagewrap Hardcover Large Landscape album (15” x 11"). Software is provided by Photobook Malaysia, and quite easy to use (compare to Adobe InDesign) although there are few weaknesses but not that significant :)

You can do simple picture edit in the software itself, like brightness adjustment etc. There are photo layout templates, masks, scrapbook, frames provided by Photobook Malaysia. You can add your own papers, scrapbook embellishments inside (I did that :p). It will have signal sign to inform user if the picture quality is not high enough for printing purpose. Solution: make the picture smaller or just remove it. I'm not sure what will happen if you insist to have the photo in the album.

Oh ya, it does not include postage. I was charged RM15 for it. Conclusion: It turned out to pretty good except the size is TOO HUGE for my liking, is like every pictures suddenly look so big compared to my computer screen. It's all my fault, I should measure it first :p. So no complain about size. Next time I will be careful....I think they use glossy paper, I wonder what is the difference between matte paper and glossy paper. That will be my next next time then...Why next next time? 'Cause I already uploaded my second photobook in a rush :p Differ company though, will blog about it once the photobook has arrive :D

The toaster on the left side of picture No. 4 is mine (emm, the microwave also mine lah, but toaster I had it for some time). I remember I used to have other miniatures from Wanroom such as tissue box, lamp, and clock. Unfortunately, I lost it and only left the toaster. So sad ToT. I remember I got it from gashapon machine. Haih... For those who do not know what is Wanroom, Wanroom is a collection of household items with dog faces by San-X (that produced a lot of cute characters like Tarepanda, Rilakkuma, Kogepan and Afro Ken). Their slogan is "Let's enjoy Wanroom life!" (Wikipedia). Where I can get full collection of Wanroom items? Anyone know?

Last but not least...

5 - Chocolate sticks (which are actually spoons)

Very interesting chocolate packaging by Chocolate Company, Netherlands. How do you eat it? The seller say that prepare one cup of hot milk, then dip the chocolate inside it and wait it melt (Refer to below picture). Never try it yet though...Still sitting nicely on my table.

Handmade baby photobook

I suddenly remembered that I made a baby photobook for a friend of mine during her baby shower celebration. I just get the idea of giving her a photobook on that day itself! (The celebration was held at the night).

So I quickly dig out papers, embellishment, stickers etc. and used up to 4-5 hours to make that book.

And that is my first time making a book. Quite courageous~ in a bad way =.="

I finished it just before my friend came and fetch me to the cafe.

The pictures are snapped inside the cafe in some sneaky way (so my friend would not know it before I give to her).

Baby feet as cover picture of photobook

My friend and her husband like the book very much (Fuuu~~~) but somehow I worry about how long it actually last, I saw a lot of weaknesses (the cutting is the worst and my UHU glue already finished @.@)...

I should get some guidelines how to make a book first before starting any related-to-book craft project.

If there is next time, wahaha. Hopefully my brain do not pop some idea on the event day itself.

I-cheated-this: Sewing room

When I'm busy, my mom is so supportive, cooking nice food, always make me laugh, did not ask me become her driver (so my brother kena instead :p). Thank you so much and now when my exam ended (yesterday!), I want to give mom something.

Because I bought this frame with almost all the decorations inside. I bought it at a shop in Amcorp Mall (first floor, I forget the name of the shop. It is a shop that sell country and english style home decorations).

Ring bearer pillow: Love letter

I realized that when I reached highest level of stress, my brain is able to think some craft idea

(which is bad -.-|||| I need to concentrate on my study). Most of my friends are getting marry and hence all the craft idea related to wedding. HA. This is my first ring bearer pillow and it turned out to be quite huge.

I sew the word "Love" - not very clear though...thicker thread will be better

and that peace (on the top right) is actually a two-finger ring, hahaha

I don't have other ring, and this is actually a ring for someone's souvenir

Recently, I'm inspired to make hand cuffs (Thanks to Etsy)

I recycle my own accessories (a choker) and use some black ribbons and lace I got in Hong Kong to make my own rock style hand cuff.

Lastly, a black rose ribbon to tie it around my hand.
It's about 45 cm long.

I don't know whether I should keep it or sell it or give it away.
But for now I'll keep it. Love it so much XD
